Not that I remember- Teenage Issues with Alcohol
An innovative educational DVD and supporting CD Rom exploring issues around alcohol, made by young people from the Plumstead Estate in Norwich for use by young people in schools. The project was led by Community Music East and T2 young people's drug and alcohol service. The young people produced the DVD themselves with support from CME tutors during a week long project over half term. This gave them the opportunity to develop new skills such as scriptwriting, acting, filming, editing and sound.
Local case studies and award entries
Work House (Norfolk) Ltd- www.work-house.org
Is Enterprise your Cup of Tea?
Business Link East and Norfolk County Council's Economic Participation Unit commissioned Work House to run an outreach campaign, taking the idea of enterprise into the rural and deprived areas of North West Norfolk. Based on solid scoping and detailed understanding of the customers' barriers to enterprise the 'un-businesslike' branding, the roadshow type events and the choice of peer-advisers were developed for the intervention.
Us Creates- www.uscreates.com
Experience Food at Work - Workplace Healthy Eating Initiative
Breckland Council, in partnership with the design consultancy Uscreates, developed a range of interventions to address eating behaviours on their main site and provide employees with healthy food opportunities within a limited budget
Interventions included a Visiting Chef, an honesty fruit bowl system, Health and Nutrition MOTs with a dietician and the introduction of communal eating facilities to the staff room. The initiative used a truly collaborative approach working with
the workforce throughout; from insight gathering through to design and delivery of interventions.
Norfolk County Council
Civitas Smile
As part of the CIVITAS SMILE project for Norwich the travel planning measure has been considered one of the most successful projects, implemented by Norfolk County Council's Planning & Transportation team.
The "School Run Park and Ride" scheme was launched in September 2007 and developed in partnership with Norfolk County Council and a cluster of five city centre schools. Four notoriously difficult to reach independent schools and one religious denomination school, all have a high proportion of students living outside Norwich, resulting in high vehicle dependency. This collaboration created a unique and sustainable bus initiative that helped to change both perception of public transport and travel behaviour of the target audience.
Choose2Reuse- www.choose2reuse.org.uk
Choose2Reuse
A CCORRN project that promotes community reuse organisations (i.e: charity shops and furniture reuse groups etc) through marketing the social economic advantages of the reuse concept as whole with individual organisations displaying posters, disseminating leaflets and undertaking promotional activities using the resources supplied by the campaign. It was incepted specifically for CCORRN members however as the only brand promoting community reuse; demand from other areas led us to develop and run a three year Defra funded pilot project in the East of England. During the second year of the pilot we had an approach from North Yorkshire and we are now earning an income from licensing and consultancy services which helps to sustain our local activities here in the East of England.
Step39- www.step39.com
Text 'Quit' to 65000
Local text marketing company Step39 worked with the Great Yarmouth Waveney PCT to create a campaign that used beermats, posters and adverts to encourage people to access local smoking cessation services. The intervention was based on geodemographical segmentation and responses to the text messages were instantaneous and ongoing support improved the success rate.
