The Personalisation Agenda
‘One thing that has emerged strongly from our research is that many third sector organisations are still not fully aware of the implications of this reform and how they should react to it’
(Bartlett & Leadbeater: 2008).
Putting People First
The personalisation agenda will radically change the way people access key areas of public service, specifically health and social care. In future people will have the freedom to choose their own provision and tailor it to suit their needs.
The challenge inherent in these changes is that current providers of social care will need to compete in an open market place to sell their services, instead of relying on Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) to deliver clients to them. This will require them to learn new skills, including appropriate marketing tools and techniques in order to gain and keep clients and sustain their delivery.
If you are working in the social care sector the personalisation agenda will affect you. Are you prepared to adapt to the changes required? Do you need help in making the transition a smooth and successful one?
